The Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army issued a formal warning to the SDF on Thursday, cautioning the group against targeting residents attempting to vacate the districts of Ashrafiyah, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Bani Zeid. These civilians are currently using humanitarian corridors that were previously established by the Aleppo Governorate.

Ensuring Safety from Oppression

Military officials stated that the army is dedicated to protecting the lives of civilians who are seeking to escape the organization’s oppression in the aforementioned areas. The Syrian Arab Army is reportedly working to provide a secure environment for those fleeing the neighborhoods to ensure their arrival at safe zones.

Deadline Extension and Human Shield Allegations

Earlier on Thursday, authorities in Aleppo announced that the timeframe for families and trapped individuals to leave the Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods has been extended until 1:00 p.m.

This extension was granted following urgent requests from local families. These appeals came after reports that the SDF had restricted movement on Wednesday, preventing many residents from departing. According to officials, the organization sought to use these civilians as human shields in an effort to obstruct the army’s ongoing military activities.
