Syria Health Ministry Denounces Fatal Shooting of Staff in Homs

A violent assault targeting medical personnel near al-Kindi Hospital in Homs resulted in four fatalities on Thursday evening. The Syrian Ministry of Health reported that three healthcare employees and their driver were killed in a shooting as they left the premises at the end of their workday.

Official Response and Continued Operations

In a statement released on Friday, Jan. 9 (SANA), the Damascus-based Ministry expressed “deep sorrow” regarding the lethal event. While mourning the loss of the victims, the government body reaffirmed its dedication to healthcare workers and clarified that al-Kindi Hospital continues to provide medical services to the public without interruption.

Security Review and Ongoing Investigation

The Ministry of Health is currently coordinating with security and judicial agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the attack. Officials have also promised a complete assessment of security measures across all medical sites to enhance the protection of patients, visitors, and staff members alike.

Stressing that the safety of medical personnel is a top priority, the Ministry pledged to take every necessary action to maintain hospital functions and critical care. Furthermore, authorities have appealed to the public, requesting that anyone with information related to the shooting come forward to assist the investigative process.
