In a coordinated effort between the Syrian Ministry of Interior and the General Intelligence Directorate, two members of the ISIS terrorist group have been apprehended. The individuals are held responsible for the December 26 bombing that targeted the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dahab district of Homs.

Details of the Intelligence Operation

Following a rigorous intelligence mission involving surveillance and tracking, security forces successfully identified and captured Ahmad Attallah al-Diab and Anas al-Zarad. The Ministry announced on Monday, Jan. 12, that the operation also yielded the recovery of weapons, explosives, and ammunition. Furthermore, digital evidence and various documents were seized, confirming the duo’s ties to terrorist activities.

Casualties of the Homs Attack

The explosion at the mosque resulted in the deaths of eight civilians. Additionally, the attack left 18 people injured, several of whom remain in serious condition due to the severity of their wounds.

Legal Actions and Security Commitment

The Ministry confirmed that all confiscated materials have been secured, and the two men have been transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Department for legal prosecution and deeper investigation. In its statement, the Ministry of Interior emphasized its firm resolve to maintain the country’s security and stability. The authorities vowed to pursue terrorist cells relentlessly and to respond swiftly to any danger threatening the safety of citizens.
