Residents in several Aleppo neighborhoods have been cautioned to stay alert regarding hazardous objects left behind by conflict. On Jan 9, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management issued a formal notification to those living in Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud, Bani Zaid, and Youth Housing, advising them to avoid touching or coming near any suspicious items that could be remnants of war.
Public Safety Warnings for Former Militant Sites
In a statement shared via its Telegram account, the ministry highlighted the risks associated with entering locations previously held by the SDF organization. These areas were formerly used as platforms for targeting parts of the city, and the ministry’s directive aims to protect the local population from potential harm.
Plans for Re-entry and Service Restoration
Local reports from Aleppo indicate that government institutions are currently preparing to return to Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud to begin the restoration of basic services. Coordination for the safe return of displaced civilians will be handled by the Aleppo Response Committee. This move is contingent upon the successful completion of security operations, which include the removal of mines and the clearing of roads to ensure the areas are safe for habitation.
