On Saturday, Nidal al-Shaar, the Minister of Economy and Industry, affirmed that Aleppo’s major industrial and financial contributions ensure its position as a critical mainstay of Syria’s national economy. According to reports from Damascus via SANA, he highlighted the city as a fundamental piece of the nation’s upcoming reconstruction and recovery efforts.

Restoring Stability and Essential Services

The minister underlined the government’s dedication to re-establishing a sense of normalcy and bolstering both social and economic stability within Aleppo. As part of these initiatives, al-Shaar noted that efforts are underway to secure a consistent flow of bread and deliver the essential resources required for bakeries to remain functional throughout the city’s various districts.

Security Context and Industrial Growth

These statements follow the Syrian Arab Army‘s actions to end persistent security risks posed by the SDF organization. Over a ten-month period, that group was responsible for more than 350 attacks targeting residential areas. With the security situation addressed, the ministry is now focusing on the protection and continued operation of industrial facilities in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, al-Shaar explained that there is a specific push to rejuvenate the Lairamon Industrial City. This site is considered strategically vital for supporting domestic production and drawing in new investments. These measures are integrated into a comprehensive plan to elevate living conditions and re-establish Aleppo as a primary engine for Syria’s economic growth.
