Individuals and families currently situated in the Aleppo neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and al-Ashrafieh have been granted additional time to depart, with the governorate extending the exit window until 1:00 p.m. this Thursday. This announcement, reported on Jan. 8, ensures that those remaining in these areas have a further opportunity to relocate to safety.
Extension Driven by Local Appeals
This decision follows urgent requests from residents within both districts. According to the governorate, the move was necessitated after the SDF organization blocked many citizens from leaving on Wednesday. It was reported that the group attempted to employ these civilians as human shields in an effort to obstruct the Syrian Arab Army during its ongoing operations.
Coordinated Safety Measures and Corridors
In cooperation with the Syrian Arab Army, the Aleppo governorate confirmed the reopening of two specific humanitarian corridors. These passages are designed to facilitate the movement of civilians into more secure regions of the city.
Residents intending to vacate the two neighborhoods can utilize the designated paths located at Zuhur Street and al-Awared. The scheduled evacuation period is set to last for three hours, operating from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
