In a significant blow to organized crime, security forces in Hama successfully disrupted a sophisticated network specializing in the production and smuggling of illegal drugs. The operation, which took place on Tuesday, January 6, led to the apprehension of the group’s leader and multiple associates, alongside the seizure of a massive cache of narcotics during a meticulously executed surveillance and tracking mission.

Details of the Narcotics Seizure

According to reports from the Ministry of Interior Telegram channel, the Narcotics Department in Hama collaborated with the Internal Security Directorate of Hama to foil a major drug distribution attempt. Colonel Khaled Eid, the Chief of the Narcotics Department, stated that the intervention was prompted by highly accurate intelligence gathered from security sources.

During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated approximately 500,000 Captagon pills, which weighed a combined 86 kilograms. The illicit substances were found concealed within specially designed iron pipes intended for smuggling. Colonel Eid emphasized that the operation’s success was the result of professional field monitoring, which included analyzing the suspects’ patterns of movement, identifying their storage locations, and understanding their operational methods.

Legal Proceedings and Investigations

Following the arrests of the ringleader and his accomplices, all confiscated materials were taken into state custody. The detainees have been referred to the appropriate judicial authorities to face legal action. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to pursue all individuals connected to the criminal network for prosecution.

Previous Enforcement Successes in Hama

This latest achievement follows a similar success by the Hama Narcotics Department in December of last year. During that instance, authorities blocked an attempt to smuggle an estimated 26,000 Captagon pills. Those narcotics had been prepared for international shipment, with Saudi Arabia identified as the intended destination.
