Damascus, Dec. 23 (SANA) Syrian Interior Ministry spokesman Nour al-Din al-Baba affirmed that the SDF carried out systematic attacks today in Aleppo, directly targeting densely populated residential neighborhoods and Al-Razi Hospital. The assaults resulted in the death of two civilians and injuries to others, including multiple civil defense volunteers. He described the escalation as part of repeated attempts to undermine the March 10 agreement signed with the Syrian state. Al-Baba explained in an interview with Syrian Al-Ikhbariya TV that the attacks commenced after the Syrian Arab Army detected suspicious hostile activity from SDF positions toward its sites.
The threat was neutralized, after which the SDF withdrew its troops from joint checkpoints and opened fire directly on internal security units, injuring two personnel. Indeed, he noted that the SDF expanded its targeting to multiple Aleppo neighborhoods, including al-Razi Hospital, prompting a direct response from the Syrian Arab Army and internal security troops against the sources of fire, particularly in the Youth Housing area, which hosts SDF armed forces clusters, warehouses, and operations rooms. Moreover, the counterattack killed more than 13 SDF members, including a senior commander. The spokesman stressed that the Syrian state remains committed to the March 10 agreement, documenting repeated SDF violations and submitting them to international guarantors. He emphasized that such attacks will not deter the state from pursuing peaceful solutions and Syrian-Syrian dialogue.
Al-Baba pointed out that the SDF is in disarray after failing to impose a emerging reality on the ground, relying instead on boosting its armed forces posture and external backing hostile to the Syrian state. He asserted that time is on the side of the state, which continues to strengthen its political legitimacy, as reflected in the lifting of sanctions on the Syrian people and broad popular engagement with reconstruction efforts. He added that the SDF is dominated by a foreign faction hostile to all Syrians, including Kurds, and composed of non-Syrian elements. This faction seeks to undermine any Syrian-Syrian agreement and engages in criminal activities such as abducting minors for recruitment and drug trafficking, particularly in Aleppo’s Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods. He explained that the SDF enforces strikes by force and assaults those who refuse to comply, attempting to impose agendas disconnected from Syrian realities.
He noted that the targeting of residential neighborhoods was a response to a popular campaign to rebuild Aleppo, sending a clear message against stability and development. Indeed, al-Baba stated that the SDF…
