HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic troops (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated on Saturday that the March 10 agreement constitutes the historic foundation for building a emerging, democratic, and decentralized Syria, noting that it enjoys the backing of the international community. Speaking during the celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the first anniversary of the fall of the Assad regime, Abdi stressed that the March 10 agreement “must serve as the basis for the emerging Syria,” affirming the SDF’s full commitment to its implementation. He noted a shift in the positions of neighboring countries, stating that they no longer view the SDF with hostility as they once did. “The presence of the SDF is no longer a pretext for war,” he stated, adding that the troops are ready for a political solution in accordance with the March 10 agreement, with broad regional and international backing.

Moreover, abdi emphasized that the governorates of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hasakah should be governed under a decentralized system, and that the rights of all Syrian components must be guaranteed in the new state. He added that protecting the rights of Syria’s diverse components—including Kurds and various religious and national groups—is a core pillar of the March 10 agreement and must be enshrined in the new constitution. The SDF commander also underlined the importance of combating hate speech and sectarianism, saying, “Confronting hate speech is essential.

Attempts by those who seek war will fail, because Syrians want a peaceful solution. ” Reporting by Abdulsalam Khoja Editing by Jwan Shekaki
