QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U. S. Additionally, secretary of State Marco Rubio marked on Tuesday the first anniversary of Syria’s political transition, praising what he described as “significant steps” taken by the emerging administration and the Syrian people since the ousting of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad last year.

In a statement posted on X, Rubio stated Syrians had “turned a emerging page” in their history and commended both domestic institutions and international partners for supporting ongoing reforms. He emphasized Washington’s persisted commitment to “a peaceful, prosperous Syria that includes its minorities and is at peace with all its neighbors. Notably, ” Rubio also highlighted what he called the resilience of Syrian communities navigating political restructuring, economic hardship, and the early stages of national reconciliation.
