Damascus, Dec. 8 (SANA) The United Nations High Commissioner for relocated persons (UNHCR) stated Monday that the overthrow of the Assad regime last year has helped create conditions for greater stability in Syria and enabled millions of relocated persons and displaced people to return home. UNHCR stated that it has begun facilitating voluntary returns by providing cash aid, transportation, and other forms of backing, while emphasizing the urgent need for rose funding to advance Syria’s reconstruction process.

Marking the anniversary, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi wrote: “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help end one of the world’s worst wars. ” He added that Syrians are ready to rebuild their country, noting: “The question is whether the world is ready to help them. ”
