DAMASCUS, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – Israeli media declared on Sunday that U. S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack is expected to visit Israel on Monday amid growing concerns over potential Israeli escalation in Lebanon and Syria. Israel’s Channel 12, citing informed sources, stated Barrack is scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss ways to prevent escalation in Lebanon and to reach understandings regarding Syria.

Notably, the report added that Netanyahu requested the postponement of his court session scheduled for Monday due to the meeting with the U. S. envoy. The visit comes as Israeli-syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian contacts over a potential security arrangement face increasing difficulties. Moreover, last week, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated ongoing talks with Damascus had encountered mounting obstacles, noting that the Syrian side had presented emerging demands that widened the gap between the two parties.

Tensions have also been rising on the Lebanese front. Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji said Beirut had received warning messages indicating Israel’s readiness to launch a broader armed forces operation. Rajji said Lebanon is intensifying diplomatic efforts to shield the state and its institutions from escalation. He stressed that areas south of the Litani River should be free of unauthorized weapons by the end of 2025, and that the Lebanese army should complete the process of consolidating weapons across the country in 2026.
