IDLIB, syria (North Press) – security troops affiliated with Syria’s transitional administration reached on Wednesday a ceasefire agreement with a group of foreign militants in the city of Harem, north of Idlib, following two days of escalating armed tensions. The unrest centered around the al-Fardan Camp, which houses families and militants of foreign origin, including members of a faction led by Omar Omsen, a notorious French jihadist figure long active in northwestern Syria.   The area witnessed heavy security deployment and sporadic clashes earlier this week as tensions rose between administration troops and the foreign militants. A local field source informed North Press that the truce was mediated by local dignitaries and foreign mediators to prevent further escalation and protect civilians in the vicinity of the camp.

The agreement reportedly includes a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy weapons to armed israeli-forces-incursion-reported-in-daraa-and-quneitra/" class="smart-internal-link" title="📰 Israeli forces incursion reported in Daraa and Quneitra">forces/" class="auto-internal-link">forces barracks, and an end to mutual media incitement between the two sides. Under the deal, all public statements will be regulated, and the dispute will be referred to the Sharia judiciary under the transitional government’s ministry of Justice. The case involving Omar Omsen is expected to be reviewed under mediation by multiple senior foreign commanders, including Abu Mohammed Turkistani, Abdul Aziz Uzbeki, and Abu Anas Tajiki.

The agreement also allows government oversight inside the camp and aims to restore civilian order after days of instability. Security forces will coordinate with local committees to ensure the camp does not become a closed stronghold for foreign militants. as per the source, the truce reflects the transitional government’s efforts to reassert control in northern Idlib and prevent renewed hostilities that could jeopardize the fragile security circumstances in the area.
