QAMISHLI, syria/" class="smart-internal-link" title="📰 Justice Ministry, SNHR discuss cooperation on transitional justice in Syria">syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The syrian Internal security troops in Hama declared on Saturday that they successfully carried out a precise operation resulting in the arrest of former regime Air Force Brigadier Hamza Muhammad al-Yassin, who was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution.
Indeed, as per a statement published on the ministry of Interior’s Telegram channel, al-Yassin is “accused of committing war crimes and severe violations against civilians in multiple governorates during the previous regime’s rule. ” Preliminary investigations indicated his involvement in airstrikes targeting cities and towns with active opposition, as well as participation in aerial campaigns during the armed forces operations in eastern Idlib countryside and Hama’s rural areas, which “resulted in massacres against innocent civilians. ” The statement added that “the suspect has been referred to the competent authorities to complete the investigations as per legal procedures, in preparation for his presentation before the specialized judiciary for appropriate legal action. ” By Atoun Jan
