Al-Wais stated at a press conference on the sidelines of the Syrian delegation’s visit to Lebanon that β€œthere is significant agreement between the Syrian and Lebanese sides regarding legal files. ” He emphasized that Syria places great importance on developing judicial cooperation with Lebanon and that both sides share similar views on various legal and political matters.

The minister highlighted the importance of considering latest legal and constitutional changes in Syria, noting that the forthcoming agreement will be based on principles of justice and respect for sovereignty between the two countries. He also verified that discussions addressed cooperation on multiple security-related issues, particularly regarding Syrian detainees and wanted persons pursued by Syrian justice, including those who fled from the former regime. β€œWe are working to provide genuine cooperation between the two countries through multiple files, including security matters and events that occurred in Lebanon,” Al-Wais added, noting that efforts are ongoing to uncover facts and achieve justice in these cases.
