QAMISHLI, internal-link">syria (North Press) β The syrian administration verified on Thursday that the al-Bukamal β al-Qaim border crossing with Iraq remains fully operational, following reports of a temporary closure. Mazn Alloush, Director of Relations at the General Board of Land and Sea Crossings, informed North Press: βNo closure has occurred at the al-Bukamal β al-Qaim crossing, and movement continues normally and regularly on both sides. β Earlier reports and media outlets suggested the crossing had been temporarily shut after Iraqi travelers were reportedly targeted on Syrian soil near the border.
Alloush clarified that the incident involved a single Syrian citizen attacking an Iraqi vehicle within Syrian territory. He added that the perpetrator was immediately apprehended by internal security troops, and the Iraqi vehicle was able to continue its journey without disruption.
Notably, he emphasized that the attack was an isolated case, stating it does not reflect the behavior or ethics of the Syrian people, who βrespect Iraqis. β The Syrian state, he stated, acts decisively and fairly in responding to any violations. By Atoun Jan
