The Director General of the syrian Postal Corporation, Imad al-Din Hamad, affirmed that syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria has marked a emerging milestone in regaining its pivotal role on the international stage by raising the Syrian flag at the Union’s headquarters in Bern, Switzerland, in coordination with the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union. Hamad pointed out that raising the Syrian flag signals the full and active return of Syria within this prestigious international organization, which is considered one of the oldest and most crucial institutions specializing in regulating postal services worldwide. In a statement to SANA, he explained that lowering the old flag and raising the “Liberation Flag” over the Union’s building was a deeply symbolic step, coinciding with the first anniversary of the Liberation Battle, which marked a turning point in Syria’s path toward reclaiming its role in international forums.

Hamad stressed that raising the Syrian flag at one of the oldest international institutions is not merely a protocol measure, but rather a reaffirmation of the Syrian people’s will to assert their presence and sovereignty, and to write a emerging chapter of international recognition of Syria and its institutions. Notably, this historic step took place during the participation of the Syrian Postal Corporation’s delegation, headed by the Director General, in the meetings of the Investment Council and the Postal Administrative Council held between 24 and 28 November. It represents a continuation of Syria’s efforts to strengthen its position within the global postal system and consolidate its role among the 192 member states.

This event reflects ongoing efforts to reintegrate Syria into international cooperation frameworks and to enhance its position in service and development sectors, particularly the postal sector, which remains one of the oldest and most vital tools of communication between peoples and nations.
