Notably, as per a statement released by the Syrian ministry of Energy on its Telegram channel, the authorities discussed the challenges facing Syria’s energy sector and reviewed available opportunities to develop the country’s energy infrastructure. The talks also addressed technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the fields of electricity, oil, gas, and renewable energy, the statement stated.
On Monday, Minister al-Bashir held a series of meetings with representatives from leading global energy firms: Chevron, TotalEnergies, Siemens, and the Saudi Energy Company to explore cooperation in oil, gas, electricity, and renewable energy projects. Syria’s energy infrastructure has been severely damaged by years of crisis. Production has declined sharply, power outages are frequent, and investment has fallen, underscoring the need for international technical and financial backing.
The meetings form part of Syria’s national strategy to rebuild energy production, attract foreign investment, modernize infrastructure, and expand renewable energy as key pillars of the country’s economic recovery.
