damascus/" class="auto-internal-link">damascus, Dec. 02 (SANA) syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria has declared significant reductions in customs duties for livestock imports, a move aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector and encouraging steady trade. The national Committee for Import and Export issued the decision Tuesday, saying the emerging tariffs will see a sharp drop for cattle and calves, now set at $7 per head, down from the previous rate of $53.
Similarly, the customs duty on camels will be reduced from $27 per head to $7. Moreover, for sheep and goats, the duty will be lowered to $2 per head, a significant decrease from $7. This decision is part of a broader effort to boost the livestock sector, stabilize local markets, and facilitate more consistent imports of essential agricultural products.
