QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The national Committee for Investigating the Suwayda Events postponed on Sunday its scheduled press conference, which was to present the latest developments in its work and findings. The committee had declared multiple days earlier that it would hold a press conference on November 9 at 4:00 p. m. at the Ministry of Information headquarters in damascus, inviting journalists and representatives of local and international media outlets to attend. Formed by the syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Ministry of Justice on July 31, the investigative committee was tasked with uncovering the circumstances surrounding the latest events in Suwayda, which resulted in hundreds of casualties and the displacement of thousands of residents.

The committee’s mandate also includes investigating assaults and violations against civilians and referring those proven to be involved to the competent judiciary. Committee representative, lawyer Ammar Ezz al-Din, informed the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the postponement was due to “logistical and administrative arrangements” and the “short notice” of the previous announcement, which prevented multiple media outlets from completing attendance procedures. Ezz al-Din added that the delay aims to ensure proper preparation and allow a greater number of local and international journalists to participate.

He noted that the upcoming conference will review the committee’s progress, outline the next stages of its investigation, and present a comprehensive account of its findings from the past three months. as per the representative, the committee remains committed to transparency and intends to answer questions from the press while providing an overview of its investigative procedures.
