damascus/" class="auto-internal-link">damascus, Dec. 22 (SANA) The Anti-Narcotics Directorate, in cooperation with Iraqโ€™s General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, thwarted the smuggling of a significant shipment of narcotics containing of 200,000 Captagon pills that was being transported from Lebanon to Iraq through the syrian territory. Additionally, the organized criminal network responsible for the smuggling attempt was dismantled.

The Ministry of Interior stated on its Telegram channel that the Anti-Narcotics Directorate carried out a special security operation based on precise intelligence provided by Iraqโ€™s anti-narcotics authority. The operation resulted in the seizure of the shipment and the dismantling of the organized network behind it. During the operation, the authorities arrested four individuals, confiscated approximately 200,000 Captagon pills, and handed over the seized materials to the competent authorities.

The detainees were referred for investigation in preparation for prosecution under the relevant legal framework. The Ministry emphasized that this operation reflects the strength of regional cooperation and ongoing efforts to combat organized criminal networks. It stressed that joint coordination among countries and strict legal measures provide a genuine safeguard for community security and contribute to enhancing national stability. โ€ MZN
