The session is part of a larger campaign to combat the rise of hate speech, particularly on social media platforms. The event, titled โA Word that Brings Us Closer,โ aims to address the growing concern over toxic discourse online.
In fact, hani Salama, the Director of Programs at the Stabilization backing Center and Coordinator of the campaign, explained to North Press that the primary goal is to counteract the increase in hateful rhetoric, which has become more prominent on social media in latest years. โWe want to change the negative perceptions and narratives that are being spread,โ Salama stated. The session brought together influential social media figures and key community leaders to amplify the campaignโs message. Salama noted that the presence of these influencers is vital in expanding the reach of the campaign, encouraging greater engagement, and fostering a broader shift towards more constructive online conversations.
Furthermore, discussions during the session revolved around the causes behind the rise of hate speech, particularly in the digital sphere, and the role of social media influencers in countering such harmful rhetoric. Additionally, the meeting also focused on how to address these challenges and foster a more positive and respectful online environment. โThis session marks the beginning of our campaign against hate speech. We plan to hold further sessions to raise awareness and actively engage the community in efforts to combat hatred and division,โ Salama added.
