QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) β The syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Democratic troops (sdf) stated on Monday that five civilians, including a child, were wounded after shelling targeted the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, amid renewed security tensions in the area. In a statement addressing the developments, the SDF stated that βfive civilians, including a child, were injured consequently of an attack by factions affiliated with the Damascus administration using heavy weapons and mortar shells on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh. β The SDF added that the shelling caused damage to civilian property, without providing further details on the extent of the damage or the current condition of those injured. Moreover, as per the statement, the escalation followed an earlier incident at the Sheikhans Roundabout, where an SDF-affiliated checkpoint was targeted.
The SDF said the attack led to injuries among members of the Internal Security troops (Asayish), prompting heightened tensions in the surrounding areas. Earlier on Monday, the Asayish in Aleppo said that a joint checkpoint it operates with General Security Forces at the Sheikhans Roundabout came under armed attack. In a brief statement, the Asayish said the incident resulted in the injury of two of its members, who sustained varying degrees of wounds.
