QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) – The syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Democratic troops (sdf) declared on Saturday that they had thwarted an attack launched by factions affiliated with the Syrian administration in the eastern countryside of Raqqa. In a statement released on its official platforms, the SDF stated that the assault targeted their positions along the Ghanem al-Ali axis, describing the incident as a “emerging act of aggression that reflects the chaos and recklessness adopted by some Damascus-backed factions. ” The statement added that the attackers used suicide drones and heavy weapons “without any regard for the safety of civilians or the stability of the region. ” as per the SDF, its units repelled the assault “with full responsibility,” confirming that three of its fighters sustained minor injuries during the clashes. The statement also declared verified casualties among the attacking groups, though it did not provide further details.
The troops noted that such incidents contribute to heightening tensions in areas where relative stability has been maintained through SDF-led security measures and the civil administration efforts of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). The statement stressed that these actions “affirm the insistence of those groups on dragging the region toward tension and undermining all efforts aimed at preserving stability. ” The SDF emphasized that its response during the confrontation remained measured and proportionate. “Our forces acted in line with the nature of the assault, fully committed to restraint and preventing the expansion of the clashes,” the statement read. Notably, the eastern Raqqa countryside has periodically witnessed security incidents involving a mix of actors, including pro-administration groups and cells linked to the Islamic State (ISIS).
SDF units, backed by the Global Coalition, continue to conduct routine security operations to prevent further instability in the region. In its concluding remarks, the SDF called on the parties supporting the attacking factions “to rein in their groups and halt their irresponsible practices, which pose a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire area. ” By Atoun Jan
