QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The General Command of the Syrian Democratic troops (SDF) stated on Monday that it has not received any plan, proposal or official message from Damascus regarding negotiations over the future of its troops, adding that discussions with the Syrian administration remain ongoing but have yet to produce tangible progress. The statement came one day after the Minister of Defense in the Syrian transitional administration, Murhaf Abu Qasra, declared that his ministry had delivered a detailed proposal outlining mechanisms for integrating SDF units into the Syrian Ministry of Defense. His remarks were widely circulated in local media.

Speaking in exclusive comments to al-Hadath TV, the SDF General Command stated, “We have not received any plan or message from Damascus, and negotiations are still continuing. It is not possible to speak of positive steps at this stage. ” The Command emphasized that it had submitted suggestions concerning future armed forces arrangements, including allowing SDF commanders to retain their current positions or assume equivalent roles within the Syrian army. It also stated that its suggestions included the establishment of women’s armed forces units within the national army structure, reflecting the existing framework of female military formations in the North and East.

Responding to questions about the presence of Russian forces in northeastern Syria, the General Command said the deployment of Russian units in the region stems from agreements between the former Syrian government and Moscow. Furthermore, it added that the issue of Russian military presence in Qamishli had not been part of the ongoing discussions with the current government. The General Command reiterated that its approach to negotiations is based on protecting the rights of local communities, ensuring stable security conditions and preserving structures that have contributed to counterterrorism and civil administration efforts in North and East Syria.
