📰 SDF, Coalition joint operation kills two ISIS supporters in Deir ez-Zor

S. -led Global Coalition, carried out a security operation in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, that resulted in the death of two individuals supporting the Islamic State (ISIS), local sources stated on Tuesday.

The sources informed North Press that the joint operation took place on Dec. 20 in the town of Diban, east of Deir ez-Zor, where the two suspects were targeted for their involvement in providing logistical backing to ISIS, particularly through improvised explosive device (IED) networks.

A source within the Coalition verified the operation, adding, “the Syrian Democratic troops (SDF) and Coalition forces conducted an operation targeting individuals suspected of facilitating ISIS activity. ” “During the operation, two suspects opened fire as the forces entered the residence,” he added. “Security personnel returned fire, killing both individuals. ” The source added that follow-up searches of the site and interrogations of other detained suspects disclosed that the two men were actively involved in supporting ISIS’s IED networks “and were involved in planning attacks against local security forces and civilians. ” By Jwan Shekaki
