QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The Russian Foreign Ministry declared on Friday that relations with Syria are witnessing growing momentum across political, economic, and security fields, emphasizing that oil and gas cooperation has become a central pillar in the partnership between the two countries. In fact, at a press briefing in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova stated that official communications are being maintained at various levels, and her country has noticed that the communications have become more intensive recently. Furthermore, zakharova noted that dialogue between the two governments is ongoing through the relevant ministries, with energy cooperation—particularly in the oil and gas sectors—remaining a primary focus of discussions.

She added that Russian-syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian coordination also extends to security and law enforcement cooperation, as well as joint political and economic alignment amid the latest international engagement with damascus. In a related statement, Syrian Interior Ministry representative Nour al-Din al-Baba informed the Russian news agency Novosti that Russia could play a key role in enhancing Syria’s security and police capabilities. He explained that cooperation in these areas falls within the framework of bilateral security agreements in response to shared threats, highlighting that the exchange of experience and information serves the interests of both nations.

These remarks followed Syrian Transitional leader Ahmad al-sharaa’s visit to Moscow, where he met Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss a range of issues, including the Russian armed forces presence in Syria, the operations of Russian companies in local markets, and expanding cooperation in energy and infrastructure projects. Notably, in latest weeks, Russian-Syrian relations have seen rose political and armed forces engagement, including joint meetings between senior officers to discuss readiness and training, as well as a meeting in Moscow between Syrian Presidential Secretary-General Maher al-Sharaa and Russian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sergey Vershinin, on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
