Indeed, as per a statement by the Presidential Media Directorate, leader al-Sharaa will undertake an official visit to Brazil on November 6th and 7th to attend the summit, which brings together dozens of world leaders and heads of states.
The visit will witness bilateral meetings with participating delegations and leaders on the sidelines of the conference. Moreover, this marks the first time a Syrian president takes part in such summit since its inception in 1995.
COP30 is one of the most prominent global climate events under the UN framework, gathering representatives from over 190 countries annually. The 2025 edition will focus on assessing national commitments to reduce carbon emissions and accelerating the transition to clean energy, amid growing warnings about the intensifying impacts of global warming and rising temperatures.
