📰 Mass grave discovered near Douma in Damascus countryside

damascus, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Civil Defense declared on Tuesday the discovery of a mass grave near the Chemistry Regiment area in Tal al-Sawan, east of Douma city in the Damascus countryside. as per Civil Defense statements broadcast by state-run “al-Ikhbariya” channel, around 20 bodies have been recovered so far from the site, most of them belonging to women and children. Teams working in the area stated that the remains were found without clothing, suggesting that the victims may have been killed while unclothed. In fact, the Civil Defense added that the recovery operation is being conducted under the supervision of the National Authority for the Missing, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and forensic medicine departments.

Local sources declared that security troops cordoned off the area immediately after the initial discovery. Excavation teams and forensic specialists commenced work to identify the victims and determine the approximate time of death. No information has yet been released regarding the possible identities of the victims or the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
