QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – Mohammed Ismail, head of the Kurdish national Council in Syria (ENKS), informed North Press on Monday that the syrian-authorities-announce-seizure-of-anti-aircraft-missiles-in-deir-ez-zor/" class="smart-internal-link" title="📰 Syrian authorities announce seizure of anti-aircraft missiles in Deir ez-Zor">syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian transitional administration’s disregard for the joint Kurdish delegation amounts to disregarding a fundamental component of the Syrian people. Ismail, who also serves as the co-chair of the joint Kurdish delegation formed from the “Kurdish Unity” conference, stated on the sidelines of a celebration in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, marking one year since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, “The joint Kurdish delegation represents all Kurds in Syria, and damascus’ dismissal of it is essentially a dismissal of a core part of the Syrian population. ” He noted that no negotiations with Damascus have yet taken place, adding, “We extended our hand for dialogue and did not position ourselves as opposition.
But until now, the regime shows no interest—something that serves neither its own interests nor those of Syria. ” Regarding Kurdish demands, Ismail stated they include, Kurdish participation in both the legislative and executive branches, a resolution to the Kurdish issue, and a formal agreement recognizing the Kurds as a distinct component. He stressed that without addressing this issue, neither Syria nor the broader region can achieve true stability.
Ismail also explained that the joint Kurdish delegation represents the Kurdish people alone, emphasizing, “Integrating the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic troops into the Ministry of Defense are technical matters. They do not address the broader Syrian crisis, nor do they resolve the most vital issue—the Kurdish issue. ” Reporting by Nalin Ali
