KOBANI, another-winter-in-torn-tents/" class="smart-internal-link" title="📰 Sere Kaniye IDPs in NE Syria face another winter in torn tents">syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The Kobani Sports Stadium, named “Martyr Power Aker,” was inaugurated on Saturday with the participation of athletes, cultural teams, and hundreds of residents. Diyar Hussein, co-chair of the Youth and Sports Board in the Autonomous Administration in Kobani, informed North Press that the stadium is the first of its kind in northern and eastern Syria. It includes multiple sports facilities and a football field, with plans to add athletics centers, fitness areas, and children’s training academies.

Construction commenced in 2019 but faced delays due to turkish attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic, and economic challenges linked to infrastructure targeting, which shifted priorities to essential services such as water and electricity. Furthermore, the stadium covers 13,000 square meters and has a seating capacity of 5,000 spectators. Hussein added that any regional sports tournament in northern and eastern Syria will be held at the stadium, as well as local competitions in Kobani and its countryside.
