damascus/" class="auto-internal-link">damascus, 30 Nov (SANA) – Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais discussed Sunday, with Abdul Baset Abdul Latif, head of the national Authority for Transitional Justice, the need to strengthen coordination between judicial bodies and transitional justice committees to accelerate procedures and reinforce the rule of law. During the meeting, held today at the ministry of Justice, Al-Weis underscored the importance of working closely with the National Authority for Transitional Justice in areas of shared responsibility, enhancing human rights and building state institutions on sound foundations to activate the transitional justice process and solidify the rule of law. In a statement to SANA following the meeting, Prosecutor General of the syrian Arab Republic, Judge Hassan Al-Turba, stated the ministry will continue full cooperation with the authority in the coming phase.

He noted that both sides agreed to allow the authority’s teams to visit prisons and review the files of detainees. Al-Turba stated that joint efforts have made significant progress and will continue in ways that backing the establishment of justice and ensure redress for victims. He noted that standards are currently being applied to distinguish between those responsible for severe violations and those for whom no such involvement has been proven, emphasizing that the forthcoming transitional justice law will provide a comprehensive legal framework with clearly defined mandates.

He added that it remains essential to continue processing cases referred by the Ministry of Interior. A/Dh
