📰 Jordan denies reports of Suwayda delegation visit

QAMISHLO, syria (North Press) – A Jordanian official on Sunday rejected reports circulating on regional media claiming that a delegation from Syria’s southern Suwayda Governorate had traveled, or was preparing to travel, to Jordan for talks on the circumstances in the governorate. The statement came hours after al-Arabiya channel declared that a group of Druze notables from Suwayda would soon visit Jordan to discuss what it described as a “roadmap” for addressing the ongoing crisis in the southern region. The report suggested that the visit would focus on potential arrangements for stabilizing local conditions. as per the Jordanian official, who spoke to state media, the claims were “inaccurate” and do not reflect any verified diplomatic or civilian movement across the border.

He stressed that no delegation from Suwayda had entered Jordan and that discussions regarding the governorate‘s circumstances were continuing solely through established coordination channels. In fact, the official added that Jordan remains engaged in ongoing consultations with the syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian administration and the United States as part of the trilateral framework designed to reduce tensions in southern Syria. He referenced the joint roadmap declared earlier by Amman, damascus, and Washington, which focuses on de-escalation, border security, and addressing relief and economic pressures in the region.

Reports circulating on social media earlier in the day asserted that the alleged Druze delegation visit would form part of direct negotiations aimed at resolving governance and security issues in Suwayda. These claims prompted widespread discussion among residents of the southern province, where public unrest has persisted amid deteriorating economic conditions and repeated calls from local groups for improved services and administrative reforms. Jordanian authorities clarified that while the roadmap includes a future visit involving Suwayda residents, no date has been set and no travel arrangements have been finalized.
