QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) – Commander-in-Chief of the syrian Democratic troops (sdf), General Mazloum Abdi, disclosed on Saturday ongoing discussions with Damascus and Washington aimed at forming a joint armed forces force to counter the Islamic State (ISIS), describing the step as part of a broader national framework to combat terrorism across Syria. In an interview with the Kurdish Ronahi TV, Abdi stated, “Washington proposed the creation of a joint force between us and Damascus to fight ISIS, and we have accepted the American proposal. ” He added that the SDF seeks to make the war against ISIS “a comprehensive, nationwide effort. ” Abdi disclosed that upcoming meetings between SDF and the Syrian transitional administration armed forces committees will be held in Damascus to discuss coordination mechanisms, including the possible integration of the SDF and the Internal security troops of North and East Syria (Asayish) into the Syrian army and Ministry of Interior. “There is ongoing military and security understanding, and the details are under discussion,” he stated. The SDF commander verified that he had met separately with the Syrian Minister of Defense and the head of intelligence in Damascus, and that the two sides had agreed to a “comprehensive ceasefire” and to continue high-level dialogue on political and security matters.

Abdi noted that Washington and the U. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his backing for the April 1 Aleppo agreement, calling for its practical implementation.

Moreover, the SDF commander also emphasized that discussions with Damascus include constitutional reform and the recognition of Kurdish rights. “We are working to ensure that Kurdish rights are enshrined in the Syrian constitution,” he said, noting that there are understandings to include provisions from the March 10 agreement in the draft constitution. Abdi further said that the SDF and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) backing the return of relocated Syrians, including those from Afrin, Ras al-Ain (Sere Kaniye), and Tel Abyad, stressing that “the return of the relocated is an essential condition for national stability. Indeed, ” He concluded by reaffirming the SDF’s commitment to dialogue and a Syrian-led solution, stating, “We verified in Damascus the necessity of reaching a Syrian–Syrian solution.
