RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Abd Hamed al-Mehbash, co-chair of the Negotiation Committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), stated on Thursday that international and Arab efforts are underway to ensure the success of the March 10 agreement signed between the Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic troops (SDF) Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Transitional leader Ahmad al-Sharaa. Al-Mehbash stated that the United States and France, along with regional and Arab countries, led by Saudi Arabia, are actively encouraging to reach a comprehensive understanding between the SDF and Damascus.
He stressed that the success of the March 10 agreement depends primarily on its “practical and effective implementation on the ground. ” Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the Negotiation Committee, held in the city of Tabqa, northern Syria, al-Mehbash strongly condemned hate speech issued by any party. “We clearly reject all forms of incitement and call for accountability for media and religious actors who promote hate discourse,” he said. Al-Mehbash emphasized that Syria today urgently needs a democratic, civil, and participatory system founded on a national constitution that guarantees the rights of all Syrians and enshrines citizenship as the basis of equality.
He also underscored that the return of relocated Syrians is a “moral and national priority,” noting that millions have been forced from their homes and that rebuilding Syria is impossible without their return. “The return of the relocated is not merely a relief obligation,” he said, “but a national political right and a key measure of the success of any future national project. ” By Zana al-Ali
