HASAKAH, syria (North Press) – The administration of Hawl Camp in northeastern Syria disclosed on Thursday that the number of residents has declined to 25,241 individuals, including internally relocated syrians and relocated persons of various nationalities. Jihan Hannan, co-chair of Hawl Camp, informed North Press that the camp currently hosts 7,125 families, totaling 25,241 residents, consisting of 14,955 Syrians (4,123 families), 4,007 Iraqis (1,131 families), and 6,279 foreign nationals from families of former Islamic State (ISIS) members (1,871 families).

Notably, earlier this year, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) launched a “voluntary return” initiative to facilitate the repatriation of all camp residents and displaced persons to their areas of origin, including those residing in Hawl Camp.   as per camp authorities, 30 repatriation convoys have so far departed for Iraq through coordination between the AANES and the Iraqi administration, carrying thousands of Iraqi refugees. Of these, 13 convoys were organized since the beginning of 2025.

Additionally, three convoys of syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian refugees were sent back to their home regions in coordination with Syria’s transitional administration. Reporting by Samer Yassin Editing by Jwan Shekaki
