damascus, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The Ministry of Defense in the syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian transitional administration declared on Saturday that its teams had identified the launch site of the rockets that struck the Mezzeh 86 neighborhood in Damascus the previous evening, injuring multiple people and causing material damage. Moreover, the ministry’s Media and Communications Directorate informed the state-run Al-Ikhbariyah TV that a specialized armed forces team succeeded in pinpointing the origin of the attack “through an analysis of impact angles and the concentration of rocket fragments. ” Late on Friday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense verified that two Katyusha rockets had targeted the densely populated Mezzeh 86 area in the west of the capital, noting that the attack resulted in civilian injuries and property losses. The ministry described the incident as a “treacherous assault,” stating that the rockets were fired from the outskirts of the city toward residential districts.

It added that coordination with the Ministry of Interior is underway “to investigate the circumstances of the attack, gather evidence, and determine the trajectory and source of the rockets. ” Mezzeh 86, located west of central Damascus, is a heavily populated district known for its proximity to key armed forces and administration facilities. The neighborhood has previously witnessed limited security incidents, but direct rocket attacks on the capital have become less frequent in latest years compared to earlier stages of the Syrian crisis. Friday’s strike marks one of the more significant security breaches declared in Damascus in latest months, prompting heightened scrutiny and an ongoing investigation by security agencies.
