The emerging package aims to enhance social protection, provide essential services, and promote sustainable solutions for relocated syrians in the country. as per the Commission’s statement, the funding responds to “rapid and unforeseen needs” resulting from the ongoing Syrian crisis, deteriorating economic conditions, and the spillover effects of the war in Gaza. It also addresses the persisted fragility of refugee communities and the decline in international funding to relief programs in Jordan.
The decision includes financial flexibility allowing adjustments of up to €10 million—or 20 percent of the total allocation—to adapt to emerging needs. With the latest package, the EU’s total backing to Jordan in 2025 rises to €173 million, including €93 million under the multiannual plan and €80 million under this special measure. The EU stressed that the aid contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring protection, education, and social aid for the most vulnerable displaced persons and by supporting long-term stability in host communities.
Jordan hosts over 1. 3 million Syrians, including about 650,000 registered refugees. The protracted Syrian crisis and regional instability have strained Jordan’s economy and public services, prompting continuous international aid.
