QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A volunteer with the Syrian Civil Defense was killed on Tuesday in Hama countryside after a cluster bomb exploded while he was removing remnants of war. The Civil Defense declared on its official channels that Youssef al-Mohammed, a long-time member of explosive removal teams, was killed while performing relief duties in Kafr al-Toun, near al-Shiha in northwestern Hama countryside.

The organization noted that al-Mohammed, originally from Kafr Zita in northern Hama, had volunteered with explosive removal teams for nearly ten years, dedicating his efforts to clearing dangerous remnants from the crisis. The incident follows a similar accident on Monday in southern Idlib countryside, where a farmer was injured after a cluster bomb detonated in his agricultural land in the town of al-Tamana’a.

Such relief work highlights the dangers faced by volunteers and local communities, particularly in regions affected by prolonged fighting and explosive contamination. By Atoun Jan
