QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) – The Internal security troops (Asayish) declared on Wednesday that they have detained two individuals linked to Islamic State (isis) cells in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in a coordinated operation supported by the Global Coalition. as per an official Asayish statement, “Our special troops (H. A. T) and the General Security Directorate, with the backing of the Global Coalition, apprehended two members of an ISIS cell today, Wednesday, October 22, in a precise security operation carried out in northern Deir ez-Zor. ” The operation followed careful monitoring of the suspects’ movements and activities in the region.
Security forces/" class="auto-internal-link">forces raided the location where the individuals were present and detained them without any casualties, the statement added. During the operation, authorities seized weapons, ammunition, communication devices, and documents linking the detainees to activities deemed “terrorist” targeting regional security and stability. The Asayish emphasized that preliminary investigations are ongoing, with the detainees to be referred to judicial authorities for prosecution in accordance with the law.

This operation reflects ongoing efforts by the Asayish and allied security bodies to prevent the reconstitution of ISIS cells in northeastern Syria, where minor, mobile extremist networks continue to pose a threat despite the territorial defeat of the group in 2019.
