Dr. Hassan Jubran, a member of the National Transitional Authority, informed North Press, “Transitional justice has reached Aleppo, and we met with the victims’ families and listened to them.
This is the main goal of our visit. ” He added, “Transitional justice is an institution established in countries experiencing conflicts and deep changes in power structures. It focuses on the victim, uncovering the truth, questioning and holding accountable those who have committed crimes against Syrians, and then compensating the victims, whether materially or morally. ” Jubran further explained that one of the authority’s duties is to reform structurally flawed institutions such as the army and security troops. He concluded, “Finally, there will be a path toward civil peace.

Civil peace cannot be achieved without justice, and justice requires prosecuting offenders and compensating victims, materially and morally, as they deserve. ” The session in Aleppo marks the beginning of efforts to implement a transitional justice process aimed at addressing grievances, restoring trust in institutions, and promoting accountability in post-crisis Syria.
