HASAKAH, talks-on-environmental-and-climate-issues/" class="smart-internal-link" title="π° Syria and Qatar hold talks on Environmental and Climate Issues">syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) β Authorities from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) have received more than 12,000 tons of cotton from farmers in northeastern Syria, as per an agriculture official who spoke with North Press on Monday. Mustafa Ibrahim, co-chair of the General Cotton Corporation, verified that the cotton collection process is ongoing at designated centers across the region. The collection campaign, which commenced in Hasakah Governorate on Sep.
28, has seen steady progress, Ibrahim added. He declared that approximately 12,300 tons of cotton have been collected in just under two weeks since the centers opened, indicating that on average, 700 tons of cotton are being received daily. Hasakah Governorate is leading the collection effort, followed by Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, with all collection centers operating around the clock to streamline the process for farmers. On Sep.
24, the AANES set the cotton purchase price at $600 per ton to encourage local production. Ibrahim also projected that this yearβs cotton harvest would reach around 75,000 tons, cultivated across approximately 250,000 dunams of farmland.
