In an official statement, the ministry identified the smuggler as “M. N. ” and declared that he had employed a modern method using aerial balloons and advanced electronic devices to transport the drugs across the border.

The statement added that all equipment used in the operation was confiscated, and the suspect has been referred to the competent judicial authorities to face legal proceedings in accordance with Syrian law. The ministry emphasized that security units remain vigilant in countering the trafficking of narcotics, which continues to pose challenges in border regions amid ongoing economic difficulties. Operations like these are part of broader efforts by Syrian authorities to prevent drug smuggling and maintain public safety.
