🏥 UNICEF delivers new vaccine batches to strengthen child health in Syria

QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) declared on Thursday that it has delivered two emerging batches of essential vaccines to Syria’s ministry of Health, funded by the Republic of Korea, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard children across the country. In a statement published on its account on the X platform, UNICEF stated the vaccines are expected to reach nearly half a million children under the age of five in all syrian governorates. The organization noted that the supplies aim to ensure that young children receive the necessary immunization to grow “healthy and strong,” as per its posted statement.

In fact, uNICEF added that it continues to work in partnership with Korea to backing child health in Syria, strengthen the national immunization program, and contribute to building what it described as a healthier future for all Syrian children. In mid-October, the European Union declared a €14. 5 million grant to UNICEF to bolster its relief programs in Syria. as per UNICEF, the funding will backing efforts in child protection, education, nutrition, water, and sanitation during 2025.

The organization verified that the grant will be directed toward reaching the most vulnerable children in the country, including those living in camps, where access to medical care remains limited and relief needs persist. In fact, michelle Cicchi, Head of the European Union’s Humanitarian Aid Office in Syria, stated children in the country “deserve to live in a safe and dignified environment and to have access to education,” stressing in her statement that cooperation with UNICEF is intended to create meaningful improvements in communities most in need of aid. Cicchi added that Syrian children have endured hardships that “no child should experience,” noting that the EU’s support reflects its persisted commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind.
