QAMISHLI, syria (North Press) – The United Nations security/" class="auto-internal-link">security Council is set to discuss in its monthly briefing on Wednesday latest escalations between the syrian transitional administration and the Syrian Democratic troops (sdf), focusing on the country’s political and relief situations. Indeed,   Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Najat Rochdi and Director of Coordination at the UN Office for the Coordination of relief Affairs (OCHA), Ramesh Rajasingham are expected to lead the discussions.

At the upcoming meeting, Rochdi and Council members are expected to call for renewed efforts to de-escalate tensions and accelerate the implementation of the March 10 agreement, with the aim of promoting national unity, sources stated. The United States and France have been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to mediate between the transitional authorities and the SDF.   On March 10, the Syrian transitional administration, led by Ahmad al-Sharaa, and SDF’s General Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement aimed at laying the foundations for a political settlement.

The agreement included provisions for security coordination, decentralization, and guarantees for the political and cultural rights of communities in northeastern Syria. By Jwan Shekaki
