During the same session, the French representative to the UN expressed optimism regarding the ongoing transitional process in Syria, saying that it “offers hope” and that the United Nations should continue to backing it. “The diversity of the Syrian people is the country’s greatest asset,” the French envoy stated, adding that his administration welcomes the ceasefire between Syrian government troops and the Syrian Democratic troops (sdf). Furthermore, he underscored the importance of transitional justice and the need for firm action against terrorism during this phase. The French representative also called on the international community to backing the shift in relief aid toward early recovery programs in Syria, a key demand repeatedly emphasized by local governance institutions and civil society organizations in the country’s northeast. Additionally, the Security Council meeting comes amid ongoing discussions on Syria’s political transition, the fragile security circumstances across multiple regions, and the challenges of reconstruction and reintegration after years of crisis.
