Rif Dimashq, Dec. 2 (SANA) The Internal security Directorate in Yabroud, Rif Dimashq, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant shipment of mines destined for Lebanon, arresting four individuals and neutralizing a fifth, authorities stated. Moreover, director of the Yabroud Internal Security Directorate, Khaled Abbas Taktouk, stated in a statement published on the Interior ministryβs Telegram channel that security units intercepted a significant shipment of armed school-closures-in-northeast-syria/" class="smart-internal-link" title="π Influenza surge forces school closures in northeast Syria">forces/" class="auto-internal-link">forces mines and seized the entire consignment.
Taktouk added that a targeted raid resulted in the seizure of 1,250 war mines equipped with detonators, intended for smuggling to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Four suspects were arrested during the operation, while a fifth was neutralized in clashes with security patrols. He said that the operation followed detailed investigations and continuous monitoring that enabled authorities to identify the suspects and track them to the smuggling site in al-Jabba, northern Rif Dimashq.
Furthermore, all confiscated items were seized, and the detainees were referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and prepare for legal proceedings. A/Dh
