QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Interior Ministry declared on Monday that security units seized a significant quantity of narcotics in Rural Damascus following what it described as “accurate information” about suspicious activity in the area. In a statement published on its social media platforms, the ministry stated that “a specialized patrol headed to the declared location and security troops commenced a thorough search operation. Indeed, ” as per the ministry’s account, the raid resulted in the discovery of 324 bricks of hashish, along with additional quantities of narcotics that were not fully detailed in the initial statement.
The ministry stated the operation took place after intelligence units received verified information indicating active trafficking in the targeted area. It added that the substances were confiscated and transferred to the competent authorities for further examination. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry in Damascus said that investigations are underway to identify individuals involved in the Damascus countryside case.
The suspects linked to the seized materials are being sought, and preliminary legal procedures have begun, as per the ministry’s statement. By Atoun Jan
