QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – A delegation from the syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Ministry of Defense visited on Tuesday the city of Serekaniye (Ras al-Ain) to discuss the integration of Turkish-backed armed factions into the ministry’s structure, a security source informed North Press on Wednesday. The source stated the delegation held meetings with local armed forces police authorities and representatives of the armed groups operating in the city. The discussions focused on procedures to integrate both the factions and the local armed forces police into the official framework of the ministry.
This follows a visit by a Syrian Ministry of Interior delegation to Serekaniye in September, during which authorities sought to activate the internal security apparatus in the city. At that time, an agreement was reached to register 300 emerging personnel in the local security system. The security source informed North Press that the outcomes of Tuesday’s discussions with the factions remain unclear.
He added that a subsequent meeting with Turkish troops in the area is expected, though no date has been verified. By Atoun Jan
