QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Internal Security troops, in collaboration with local authorities in Dara’a, successfully arrested on Sunday five individuals for their involvement in a weapons trafficking network. The network allegedly smuggled arms to outlawed groups in the southwestern governorate of Suwayda and to cells associated with the Islamic State (ISIS). The operation, conducted by the Internal Security troops in Damascus countryside, was the result of reliable intelligence about suspicious activities in a local farm area. as per significant General Ahmad al-Dalati, Head of Internal Security in Damascus countryside, the security forces swiftly surrounded the location before executing the raid.
Indeed, during the operation, authorities seized a range of weapons, including FPV drones equipped with explosives and TNT materials. These drones were reportedly prepared for use in suicide attacks. A total of 1.
5 tons of TNT, alongside anti-personnel bombs weighing 2 kilograms each, were discovered, all of which were intended for deployment in crisis zones. The seized weapons, which also included drone components, were fully confiscated. The five detainees were transferred to the relevant authorities for further interrogation and will be referred to the judiciary for legal proceedings.
